Blues Are Prepared for Latest Face-Off

THE Coolangatta Blues Football Club will face one of its toughest matches of recent times when they tackle AFL Queensland State League side Broadbeach at Len Peak Oval today.

Although only a trial match, the Blues are well prepared as can be expected for the step-up in class after another solid practice match at the weekend.

Facing off against Kedron and Caloundra in two separate matches on Saturday, the Blues provided plenty of heart-stopping moments, beating Kedron by one point before losing to Caloundra by two points.

With a host of senior players unavailable for the Blues, there were plenty of opportunities for players to push their case for inclusion against Broadbeach and the coaches were impressed with what they saw.

Coach Grant McKenzie said the matches added to the headaches he and the selection committee would have going into the game against the Cats.

"All of our young blokes got a run and a chance to show their skills, which was good for them and us," he said. …
