Cook Backs Pietersen to End His Run of Bad Form

ALASTAIR COOK is confident that Kevin Pietersen will rediscover his best form for England in tomorrow's second one-day international against Bangladesh.

England took a 1-0 lead in the series thanks to their six-wicket win in Dhaka yesterday, giving Cook a winning start to his captaincy on this tour but the form of their premier batsman remains a worry.

Pietersen (right) made just one -- his third singlefigure score of the tour -- meaning England needed to rely on an unbeaten 75 from Paul Collingwood to see them home.

But Cook insisted he was relaxed about Pietersen's poor run. The Essex opener said: "Kevin is a class player, his record says that, and we know that our opponents fear him.

"Even if you have a couple of poor knocks, the next score is just around the corner for a player of his class."

On his first success as an England captain, Cook added: "It's a really nice feeling, sitting here after a win and really good team performance. …
