IT has been a big 12 months for Queensland trance music prodigy DJ tyDi.

It began with being named the number one DJ in the country in the prestigious inthemix polls, making him the first Queenslander to achieve that particular title and the youngest DJ to ever make number one.

He followed that up with a nomination for GQ man of the year, and performed in front of 30,000 of his nearest and dearest in one of the biggest dance music events in the world.

And on top of that he managed to release his debut album, a collection of tracks that is very much tyDi.

"I am glad I didn't sell out. A lot of dance artists put out CDs that follow a safe formula," he said.

But it was a style that worked. His album, Look Closer, spent the first month after its release sitting in the number two position on the AIR charts, narrowly being beaten by dance music masters The Presets and sitting comfortably above Sneaky Sound System. …
