I found I was much more motivated and the temptation wasn't as great to have a cigarette.

"The sessions are available to clients who use the sexual health centre and all staff and I would recommend anyone thinking of quitting to go along as they are really worthwhile.

"Having them in the workplace is so convenient and definitely gave me the motivation to stop smoking."

Suzanne Joyce, acting manager of the NHS Newcastle and North Tyneside Stop Smoking Service, said: "Allan has done really well in achieving his goal to stop smoking.

"The stop smoking service runs weekly one-to-one sessions at New Croft House and other NHS buildings as well as going into workplaces across the North of Tyne area. These sessions are proving to be really popular with people wanting to quit as they are very convenient for them.

"I would urge anyone of thinking of quitting to go along to the sessions in the workplace or any drop-in sessions that are run throughout Newcastle, North Tyneside and Northumberland. We know it is difficult to quit but our advisors are there to help you every step of the way."

The in-work Stop Smoking Service has proved to be just the job for Gillian Patten as she has finally given up smoking after almost 25 years. …
