Learn Tips for Managing Workplace Stress

MINDFULNESS - it's not just a Buddhist thing. Google it and you'll find more than two million references. An increasing number of Western psychotherapists are teaching the practice of mindfulness as a tool for stress management.

Starting tonight, Bobbi Allan of The Channon is running a six-week course through Adult Community Education (ACE) in Lismore, offering 'Practical mindfulness skills for managing workplace stress'.

Bobbi has a professional background in management training, facilitation, communication, and conflict resolution. Trained in Mindfulness-based stress reduction, Bobbi is also a Buddhist teacher in the Insight tradition with more than 30 years of experience in Buddhist practice. Also a student of Joanna Macey, she has a long history of social and environmental action.

"In this course we will learn a meditation practice that anyone can use, which will help us to practise mindfulness in our everyday lives," Bobbi says. "It's helpful for everyone, and especially will help people with stress, anxiety, chronic pain, or other stress-related conditions. I'll be passing on a toolkit of techniques, outlined in a manual that participants will be given. …
