I COME from a long line of bargain hunters and market-goers.

My Pa was a notorious market attendee and was often showing off to the rest of the family his amazing bargains - even if sometimes they seemed like bargains to no one but him!

So it was no surprise that I developed the market-loving streak.

So far during my time in Gladstone I had been to the Library Square Markets, the Kmart Markets and the Discovery Coast Markets but due to work commitments had yet to experience the Calliope River Historical Village Markets.

Like the name suggests, the markets are held at the Calliope River Historical Village, either monthly or bi-monthly on a Sunday.

With more than a hundred stores with items ranging from toys and trinkets to books and hot nuts, there is something for everyone.

It is a hot day as I wander around the markets but that doesn't appear to deter the multitude of families that join me in the quest for a bargain. …
