Candidate's Porn Movies 'Are Not My Cup of Tea'

NICK CLEGG appeared to distance himself from one of his parliamentary candidates today after it emerged that she is a pornographic film-maker.

The Liberal Democrat leader said Anna Arrowsmith's past career was "not my cup of tea" and admitted he did not know of the controversy surrounding her candidacy until he read about it in the newspapers.

Mrs Arrowsmith, who was selected on Wednesday to fight the Tory marginal of Gravesham in Kent, is the managing director of erotic film company Easy On The Eye Productions.

Working under the pseudonym of Anna Span, films produced by her company include Hoxton Honey and Southwark Sugar. Her website asks viewers: "Are you bored of the same old porn?" But today Mr Clegg stressed he was not personally in favour of the porn industry. "It's not exactly my cup of tea what she has been doing before she put herself forward in Parliament," he told GMTV.

"But it's really important that people like her who care about their local area are encouraged to come into politics. …
