Faulty Insulation Jobs an Environmental Disaster

I THOUGHT that I had done the right thing when I obtained two quotes before going ahead and employing a local firm to install foil insulation in my roof space, bearing in mind that this scheme was devised to save the country from the damage that air conditioning is doing to the environment.

This job was carried out last August and I felt safe in the knowledge that this work had been carried out successfully.

However, I was alarmed seven months later when I learned that this type of insulation had not only caught fire but caused electrical problems in a great number of homes and you know the tragic result.

I could very well have been one of them.

I have since heard from the insulation firm that they are now out of business. I wonder why!

I then rang the Government hotline and was instructed to employ a qualified electrician to check out the job to ensure my safety.

I was horrified to learn that all of my four down lights had been covered by the insulation, so much so that he had difficulty in even locating them and he also discovered that one entire room had not even been covered by the insulation. …
