With the cooler weather slowly arriving it is now a great time to plant yourself a herb garden. There is a huge selection of fresh herbs to choose from, including culinary and medicinal herbs and if you are after something unusual we can usually source them for you. Herbs grow well in large pots or tubs, or you can grow them in a special herb garden bed.

Did anyone plant some sweet peas last Wednesday for St Patrick's Day? If you are still contemplating them make sure you plant them as soon as possible for best results. The tall sweet peas will need a trellis otherwise the dwarf or bijou are fantastic as they only grow to about three feet high.

As the stone fruit season comes to an end, just remember you can now plant your own stonefruit for next season. Some of the most popular varieties are dwarf peaches and nectarines, also plumcots, peachcots, apricots, and plums. The tropical varieties, which should fruit before Christmas, are great as they miss the dreaded fruit fly. …
