ANOTHER survey pointing out the blooming obvious pinged into my email basket the other day.

It announced that a lot of young people today will need to help from their parents to get a foot on the housing ladder. Well, there's a surprise!

Now don't get me wrong - I have great sympathy for today's young people. Jobs are few and far between, many of the young are laden with debt from university, property prices are high and getting a mortgage is very tough.

This survey, from the National Housing Federation, said that 54% of people aged between 18 and 30 felt they would need money from friends or relatives to raise the deposit needed to buy a home of their own.

Just like the help my parents gave me and their parents gave them. It's what families do - and what they've always done. They help each other out! No one ever said buying a home was easy - but it is worthwhile.
