RYHOPE CW have led the table for several weeks but their advantage has dwindled to just six points.

The Wearsiders were hard-pressed to claim a dramatic equaliser at lowly Hartlepool, while nearest challengers Scarborough Town romped to an eight-goal win over Wolviston. With 90 minutes up, it appeared that Ryhope would suffer only their second defeat of the season but, deep into stoppage time, John Davis saved a point.

Hartlepool, who started the day second from the basement, shocked their lofty opponents by taking the lead after just nine minutes when Colin McCullough struck. Ryhope suffered a further blow 14 minutes from the end as John Butler was sent off.

Wolviston were unable to halt Scarborough Town's challenge for the title. The result was just about settled in the opening nine minutes by which time Josh Greening had rifled a hat-trick.

Although the visitors denied Boro for a further 50 minutes, the Seasiders roared to an 8-0 victory scoring five times in the second period through Joel Ramm, Dean Craig, Matthew Brown, Robbie Hawkes and Joe Danby. …
