Students Win a Date with Stephanie Rice

GOGANGO State School only has 14 students, but they dived into an Australian competition and surfaced winning a date with Australian swimming superstar Stephanie Rice.

The small school, 65km west of Rockhampton, won the SunRice Difference C[pounds sterling]Children Helping ChildrenC[yen] competition, claiming $20,000 and a personal swimming lesson with the triple Olympic gold medallist tomorrow at Rockhampton's southside pool.

Parent and P&C vice-president Simone Lawrie was the driving force in the competition and said their win was thanks to a gallant effort from the whole community.

Principal and sole teacher of Gogango State School, Julianne Emmert, couldn't believe their small school had won a national competition.
