COUPLE Jayne and Mark Davison, from Fairfield in Stockton, have just started up a small business and felt the budget offers a number of positives for them.

Jayne and Mark run cleaning business AC Cleaning, and are planning to expand.

The Chancellor's pledge to help small businesses by cutting business rates for a year from October and providing pounds 94 billion of new business loans was welcome. Jayne, 34, said: "It's wonderful news, I'm very pleased. We are quite a small business, just starting off and this is what we need. They needed to do something for us.

"We had help from our current bank in setting up, although in the future when we are going for big tenders if anything needs to come out of our budget we will now have the chance to get business loans for that."

The couple's business offers rapid response 24/7, 365 days of the year, domestic Jayne and Mark Davison, a couple from Stockton and commercial cleaning including custody cell cleaning, crime scene and trauma cleaning, hypodermic needle collection and pest control.

Jayne said the 3p fuel duty rise, to be phased in in three stages between April and January 2011, was "not huge, but still an increase" that would still have an impact.

But the mum of six-year-old daughter Ellie said the "expected" rises on beer, wine and spirits, cider and tobacco would have no impact on her.

"I'm four months pregnant," she said. "So I won't be worrying about that!" Jayne added their new situation also meant the announced pounds 4 increase in child tax credit was "very welcome and timely".
