Southside United Holds an ,Cyunfit' Wanderers to a One-All Draw

HOCKEY: "It was the battle of the unfit," claimed Wanderers player-coach Aaron Harmsworth.

It was Wanderers' first game of the season and although the reigning premiers drew with Southside United, Harmsworth wasn't

disappointed.

Wanderers' Todd Harmsworth managed to secure the first score of the game and took half-time at 1-0.

South's Justin Gibbs fought back in the second half to equalise but neither team could score another goal and claim the win.

"It's good, we have been waiting for a bit more of a competition and I think Souths are going to give it to us this year," Harmsworth said.

"They have new players and will be the team to beat."

But Harmsworth said the team's fitness level and commitment was at the worst it had ever been at the start of a season.

"I was glad they didn't get away with a win, but we are pretty unfit and it has given us a good indicator to where we are at now and where we were last year," he said.

Harmsworth said his men needed to work on their commitment to the game and strengthen their fitness level before their next game after the Easter break. …
