AFTER deferrals from the Southern Downs Regional Council (SDRC) and some community resistance, the multi-million dollar lifestyle village in O'Leary Street is almost complete.

Oak Tree, the highly anticipated addition to Warwick's retiree accommodation, is due to be completed by early May.

The lifestyle village is set to provide an affordable option for seniors with two- bedroom homes priced from $195,000 and three-bedroom options available.

The $20 million investment was originally penned for 75 free-standing villas, but has currently been downsized to a 62-villa devel- opment with leisure facilities to be built over several stages.

Oak Tree manager Anna Jackson has lived on the Southern Downs for a decade and said the village would be built with the intention of high community involvement for residents.

"This really is the only thing of its kind and scale in Warwick and will fill the gap which has been here for quite some time," she said. …
