KNIGHTS, dragons and a little bit of Disney magic are in the air in Alnwick over Easter.

Alnwick Castle, which has just reopened after the winter break, is introducing the first of what is promised to be a never-ending list of developments to meet the vision of new boss Christian Perdrier.

This is the first bank holiday in charge for the former Disneyland Paris exec, who was appointed as Alnwick Castle and Garden chief executive last November.

The first changes at the Duke of Northumberland's castle, which has been in the Percy family for 700 years, are on a Medieval theme with workshops, characters and a revamped interactive Knight's Quest teaching families all about dragons and how to slay them.

Mr Perdrier said: "We put a few changes in but the big changes will be in 2011.

"The bar is very high but due to the time, energy and finding the right people and organisation, we couldn't go as far as I wanted to."

The relaunched Knight's Quest game will be at the heart of the Easter programme of entertainment and education, which also includes a dragons' egg hunt, egg rolling and historical characters telling the tale of how books changed the world. …
