THE world's oil reserves have been exaggerated by up to a third, according to Sir David King, Britain's former chief scientist, who has warned of shortages and price spikes within years, as soon as 2014-2015!

The scientist and researchers from Oxford University argue that official figures are inflated because member countries of the oil cartel, OPEC, over-reported reserves in the 1980s when competing for global market share.

This is what scientists and others like Sir Richard Branson are calling 'peak oil' and it is a reality that political leaders are lagging behind in taking it seriously.

The fundamental notion that we can go on increasing our oil consumption while supplies and reserves diminish is going to be the underlying problem for this generation starting in the next few years.

Yet leaders dilly-dally over bringing the economies of the West and emerging nations down to a sustainable level.

The old 'growth' model of expanding economies and rampant consumption based on cheap and available oil is about to come to a screaming halt and we, the passengers, will be thrown headlong to the front of the bus. …
