Bandit Forces Manager to Take Him to the Safe

A BANDIT has escaped with thousands of dollars from the Hervey Bay Hotel after jumping the manager as he was leaving the premises following a busy Easter weekend.

The robber forced the manager, Mark D'Emilio, to take him back inside the hotel.

"I'd locked the building, turned on the alarm and was walking to my car when suddenly I felt a presence behind me," Mr D'Emilio said.

"The robber pushed something into my back, it felt like steel and was tubular, and he said: CyIt's a gun, don't turn around,'" the manager said.

Obeying the robber's instructions, he took him to an office where he opened a safe allowing him to grab thousands of dollars.

Police yesterday released still pictures from the CCTV footage of the robbery and have asked for the public's assistance in trying to identify the offender.

The footage showed the robber, who was wearing a white fishing hat and white casual shoes, walking closely behind the manager after forcing him back inside the hotel. …
