BLYTH Spartans ran fourthplaced Droylsden all the way at the Butcher's Arms - but still had nothing to show for their efforts in another blank away day.

The Bloods scraped home 2-1, with Blyth twice hitting the woodwork in the second half, to leave manager Mick Tait once again frustrated.

Tait said: "We have only won two away games and have the fourth-worst away record in the Conference North - but it should be one of the best. I have lost count of the number of times we have been the better side on our travels but have come away with nothing.

"We should have been four or five up in the first half yet had to go in with the scores level and we then lost the game on the back of a poor penalty.

"The ball was blasted at Steve Foster from a yard but the penalty was given and once again we've lost a game we should have won. …
