TOP to bottom, one room at a time, working towards the entrance of your home - that's the way to spring clean, says Sue Riley. And, as head of cleaning company Merry Maids Teesside, she should know. Her essential spring cleaning tips start with throwing open the windows and getting stuck in with a big pile of fresh dusters. Microfibre cloths are her choice to use on picture frames, furniture, accessories and woodwork. But remember to spray the cloth, not the display when dusting your TV screen.

Use a long-handled feather duster or special vacuum attachment for ceilings and light fittings and remember to lift the rugs and poke under those beds. When you've stretched and scrubbed until you're home is spotless, you can sit down exhausted with a cup of tea and fill in our fun quiz.
