The Catholic church claims that the devil is behind those criticizing the pope for allegedly hiding the sexual abuse of children by priests. In 1632, Galileo, father of modern observational astronomy, was tried by the Catholic church for claiming that the universe didn't revolve aroundEarth. He was found "vehemently suspect of heresy," forced to recant, and spent the rest of his life under house arrest. I suppose the devil caused the Catholic officials to unfairly punish Galileo. It seems to me that the devil has a long history with the Catholic Church.


It appears that The Times- Union will probably be changing [its] name to the African-American Times-Union judging by that past few weeks' editions. I had to look hard at today's (Monday) edition to find out if there were any white people left in our city. Oh well, there is always USA Today available at newsstands.


To the writer who commented on my "left-lane slowpoke" rant: I wasn't talking about people going the speed limit; I was talking about drivers going 5-10 mph under the speed limit in the left lane because they are either scared, or don't "like" to drive in the right-hand lane. I'm sorry, but nobody cares what you "like," and if you are "scared" to drive in the right-hand lane then you shouldn't be driving at all. …
