Public Viewing, Funeral Set for 6 Victims of Nassau Accident

Article excerpt

Funeral arrangements are set for six members of a family killed Friday in a Nassau County car accident.

Brenda Mitchell Edwards, 57, of Jacksonville; her daughter Melissa L. Mitchell, 39, of Lawrenceville, Ga.; Mitchell's three children, Miya Mitchell, 11, and twins Christian and Keyshawn Perry, both 4; and Edwards' granddaughter Dhanja Mitchell, 16, of Jacksonville, died in the crash.

A public viewing and funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Charlton County High School, 500 Indian Trail, in Folkston, Ga.

An account in the Mitchell-family name has been established to help pay for funeral expenses at VyStar Credit Union. The account number is 702814864.

The accident happened when a 1995 Chevrolet Camaro driven by Pedro Juan Ocacia Alcazar, 38, clipped the Nissan sedan carrying the family and sent it spinning into the median. It was then smashed by a pickup truck, police and fire officials said. Alcazar was charged with six counts of vehicular homicide.
