North Pine Acid Test for Western Spirit

WITH his team flying high as unbeaten outright competition leaders, Nev O'Sullivan sees no need to make major changes tonight.

While he briefly contemplated adjusting Western Spirit's defensive structure against second-placed North Pine, the experienced campaigner quickly stood firm.

"The formation's good. I go out to win every week," the Spirit co-coach said.

Spirit kick off tonight's away game at Bob Brock Park on 15 points, two clear of their closest rivals after five completed rounds.

While North Pine is recognised as a sharp and skilful side, Spirit has won on the back of strong team play and workman-like performances.

O'Sullivan (pictured) said tonight's game would give Spirit a better idea where they are placed, having returned to Division One this season.

"Every week, we're going to get tested coming up from below (Division 2) and teams are unsure of us," he said.

"Now they might open their eyes kind of thing.

"We've just got to keep rising with the challenge every week. …
