Article excerpt

A week in the news spotlight

ROCKHAMPTON was firmly in the nation's eye this week as journalists from across the country flocked to cover the oil-spilling ship at Douglas Shoal.

Reporters from Sydney and Brisbane were spotted in town this week, with the ABC and Channel 9 bringing their own helicopters.

Joining the reporters were the Prime Minister and a few state ministers and the likes of environmental guru Peter Garrett (the Buzz is unable to confirm if Garrett managed to bring out his well-known dance moves during his quick stop).

Local journalists were also in hot demand across Australia and the world, conducting interviews with top Sydney and Melbourne radio stations, along with the BBC, CNN and Al-Jazeera networks.

She plays a star role in the Australia's Got Talent advertisement, with the program going to air on Tuesday night at 7.30pm on Channel 7.

Keep your eyes peeled for our Em, who is set to perform a pole dance with two other pole pros from Mackay and Brisbane.
