WHEN Eli Waters resident Trisha Andrews checked her bank account yesterday morning, she knew straight away something was wrong Co she was suddenly $1158 richer.

She visited the Hervey Bay branch of the Commonwealth Bank to try to correct what she believed was an error Co only to be told she would be charged a fee of $12 to trace the money to its origin.

A spokesperson for the Commonwealth Bank said the bank's policy was to charge $12 for a trace if the money transferred did belong to the person making the inquiry. If it does not, no fee is charged.

The spokesperson confirmed that $12 had been charged to Ms Andrews' account, even though the money had not been confirmed as being hers Co but said that amount would be refunded if it turned out the money was not hers.

According to her account records, the money was transferred from Eden Temp Support, an agency with which Ms Andrews was not familiar.

Ms Andrews said she was aware there could be legal ramifications if she spent money that was not hers and was keen to clear the matter up. …
