Carroll Relishing His Leading Role; Bring on the Next Game, Declares Toon Striker as Mags Close in on the Title

ANDY CARROLL has revealed he is having the time of his life leading Newcastle United's line of attack.

Carroll will be hoping to add to his impressive tally of 17 tonight in Reading.

There's no doubt about the fact that Newcastle's season has been a long hard slog with 42 Championship games now done and dusted - four more already than a regular season in the Premier League.

But even though there are still four more fixtures to come, Carroll says he has no problem with the games coming thick and fast with Newcastle on a real high - all of it a far cry from 12 months ago as the Toon tumbled down to the second tier and the big Geordie ended the season nursing an injury.

He told the Chronicle: "At the moment we just can't wait for the next game to come.

"That's the mentality that winning instills in you.

"You aren't dreading games, you just want them to come around.

Carroll revealed his desire to win the league in last night's Chronicle, and summed up the hunger in the United dressing room when he said: "If we don't win it now it would be a massive disappointment. …
