Robber Pleads Guilty; He Hit a Glynn Bank, Then Tried to Talk His Way out of the Arrest

BRUNSWICK - Clifford Lee Green added one more offense Wednesday to his lengthy laundry list of crimes.

The 41-year-old Camden County parolee pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to armed bank robbery. Green, who has 10 prior felony convictions, told U.S. District Judge Lisa Godbey Wood that he had a handgun when he robbed the PrimeSouth Bank in rural Glynn County on Nov. 24.

The White Oak man admitted wielding a .38-caliber revolver while robbing the bank of about $7,700 shortly after it opened.

FBI Special Agent Tony Alig testified that Glynn County police found the money and gun stuffed inside Green's pants when they arrested him a few minutes after the heist less than a half-mile from the bank at U.S. 17 and U.S. 82.

Green told police several different stories about how he came to have the gun and bank money, Alig said.

"One story was that before the bank was robbed, he exchanged clothes with an unknown man. …
