No Shows Cost NDRL Reps against Burnett

RUGBY LEAGUE: Northern Districts Rugby League (NDRL) president Mick McCotter has vowed to punish players who mysteriously pulled out of Saturday's representative game against Burnett.

The side lost seven players on Thursday night, including star half back Nathan Muller and it forced a major shake up with Andy Filo moved to half and forward Aaron Causten into pivot.

Causten's shift meant the young side lost a lot of go-forward, despite the efforts of 19-year-old lock Brent Crawford who played the full 80 minutes.

Despite a wealth of possession and opportunities on the Burnett try line in the first half, the NDRL all stars were unable to penetrate the defence.

An intercept try to Burnett was the only thing splitting the two sides at the break, but poor ball control meant Burnett ran away with it 34-16 in the end.

McCotter said a two-match suspension would be dished out to any player who missed the game and could not provide a valid excuse.

"I will be dealing with them, don't worry about that," he said. …
