Mick Takes It All the Way; New Charter Operation Hopes to Hook Tourists with Its Fresh Approach

MICHAEL Black has been fishing all his life, the past 10 professionally, and he brings that experience to Seventeen Seventy after purchasing Sportfish 1770 Fishing Charters.

Mick, to his mates, has been giving his new boat a revamp and refit to cater for his new-look fishing charter business.

Although he's been working most recently in Western Australia and the Sunshine Coast, Mick has extensive knowledge of all the pick spots offshore from Seventeen Seventy and a Master Class 5 ticket and marine engineering Grade 2 qualifications allow him to take charters as far out as the 50 mile, beyond the Bunker group.

"We take full day or half day charters, and while most people don't want to go out that far, we have the capability to go where they want," Mick said.

"And that's our focus - to cater totally for what people want to get out of their day out. We can target what they want to catch and how they want the day to work - more exclusive customer-based charters. …
