Deck Cleared for Pioneer Valley Show

THE gates of Pioneer Valley showgrounds will open for the 47th annual show despite the destruction left behind by Cyclone Ului.

Pioneer Valley Show Society publicity officer Jenny Fordham said the showground's "beautiful" shady trees had been severely damaged in the cyclone. Damage to buildings was minimal.

"This has proven to be a minor setback for our small band of volunteers as we begin preparations for this years show on June 20," Ms Fordham said.

"We are fortunate to be surrounded by many generous people, who have brought tractors, chainsaws and equipment to clear the debris and trim the many broken branches of the trees which supplied shade.

"The clean-up is almost complete and our focus will be on preparing the grounds, buildings and cattle yards and having them looking as spectacular as ever for the show.

"We have secured some great entertainment for the show this year, which is sure to please the many age groups who attend. …
