After an Epic 24-Hour Journey, Fulham Finally Arrive in Hamburg

FULHAM today completed their marathon journey across the continent for tomorrow night's Europa League semi-final clash with Hamburg, more than 24 hours after leaving London.

Manager Roy Hodgson and his players left the capital yesterday morning and arrived in Hamburg at lunchtime today after the volcanic ash cloud forced the club to travel by road for the biggest game in their 131-year history.

They took the Eurotunnel to France before driving through Belgium and Holland. The squad arrived in the north German city of Munster at 11pm last night before continuing their journey to Hamburg at 10am today.

British airports have reopened following days of disruption and the club are hopeful they will be able to fly back to England ahead of their Premier League visit to Everton on Sunday.

Liverpool have also had to travel by road for their semi-final against Atletico Madrid in the Spanish capital and manager Rafa Benitez believes the difficult journey could boost their chances of gaining a first-leg advantage. …
