SINCE the tragic and probably preventable death of young Grafton men Nathan Chapman and Kyle Clifford this week we have run a number of stories and comment pieces, including one from an emergency department doctor in our letters section today, imploring people to be careful on our roads.

Not surprisingly, there has been an enormous outpouring of emotion - these were popular young men with a wide circle of friends who died way too young.

Hopefully the 1000 or more people who attended 'Chappo's' funeral on Thursday and Kyle's yesterday as well as all those who have been touched by their loss will learn to take extreme care while driving.

About the time I got my licence as a teenager I was in a car with my late grandfather, a former taxi driver, when a car went flying past.

With words like: "Look at that idiot. Do you know with all that speed and all that risk they are only going to be a few seconds faster getting where they are going? …
