A MAGISTRATE told Childers woman Kimberley Jayne Orchard to C[pounds sterling]bring a toothbrush and some clean underwearC[yen] if she appeared before him again on another assault charge.

C[pounds sterling]I'll have no hesitation in sending you to jail,C[yen] Magistrate Brian Smith said.

Orchard had pleaded guilty to the assault of Tara Maree Cavanagh outside the Grand Hotel on Melbourne Cup Day last year, then assaulting Cavanagh's mother, Karen Ann Jary, inside the hotel later that afternoon.

Prosecutor Sergeant Barry Stevens told the Childers Magistrates Court that Orchard walked past the hotel in Churchill Street when Ms Cavanagh called out to her from the hotel.

C[pounds sterling]She then ran 30 metres back to the victim, who was on the footpath, and punched her in the back of the head,C[yen] Sgt Stevens said.

C[pounds sterling]She dragged the victim to the ground and continued punching her.C[yen]

Sgt Stevens told the court Orchard stomped on the victim's head before being restrained, after which the victim was taken to Childers Hospital for treatment. …
