THE league resumes tomorrow with chairman Keith Robson anticipating another "great season".

As Chester-le-Street begin the defence of their title, Robson is relishing the prospect of witnessing how strongly South Northumberland - winners of the previous six championships - bounce back.

He said: "We are looking forward to the new season.

"All of the teams have strengthened their squads, so there should be increased competition. It is really looking very competitive.

"We also welcome Hetton Lyons back into the League. I expect them to do well.

"They have made a number of improvements to their ground and I am sure they will enhance the league.

"All of the teams have had good preparation during the preseason, and it is gearing up nicely for tomorrow."

Of most interest will be how South North bounce back.

But while Robson expects them to come back strongly in their bid to reclaim top spot, the likes of Blaydon, Benwell Hill and South Shields are all certain to figure as well, adding: "South North have not been in this position for a long time. …
