IT'S nip and tuck at the top of the table in the two-horse race for the championship.

Both leaders Ryhope CW and Scarborough Town conceded points in the double midweek programme and although the Wearsiders enjoy a five points advantage, Boro have two games in hand.

It could well be that the destination of the championship is not decided until a fortnight today when the two teams meet at Scarborough.

Before then, the pair will be aiming for maximum points, but both face difficult fixtures this afternoon.

Ryhope go to fourth-placed Annfield Plain. John Butler, Dean Arkley, Martin Metcalfe, Shaun Petch, James Farrell and Chris Trewick cannot be included in Martin Swales' Ryhope squad, while James Dunn will need a fitness check.

Scarborough have home advantage over Easington Colliery, who are fifth and buoyant following their seven-goal rout of Guisborough Town HC this week.

The Seasiders delay naming their squad, while the Colliers are hopeful of Haydn Pace, Andrew Richardson and Robert Huntley playing. …
