Buxton ......................................................6 Durham City...............................................2 NOT even the John Beck treatment could spare Durham City in their final game of the UniBond Premier season, but Dicky Ord still came away proud of his players.

The Esh Group Stadium outfit only arrived at Buxton around half an hour before kick-off after a lengthy, sweaty bus journey.

So interim manager Ord chucked his squad into a cold shower - as Beck often famously did at Cambridge United in the early 90s - on arrival in an attempt to wake them from their understandable lethargy.

It failed to work, Buxton triumphing through Kieran Lugsden (2), Mark Reed (2), Lee Morris and Steve Ridley, Craig Harboard and Andrew Stephenson replying for the visitors.

Yet after such a season, Ord could hardly be downbeat: "To be honest, it is just great to get it all over with.

"It has been a long, hard season for the lads and they deserve a bit of a rest now. …
