EVOLUTION has long has a reputation for booking in the 'next big thing' long before the majority have heard of them.

Think Duffy and Little Boots for starters - and this year think Ellie Goulding!

Big things were forecast for Ellie Goulding in 2010. Four months in and she's shattered, happy and basking in starry-eyed success.

She was included on many 'next big thing' lists and since the turn of the year, her success seems to be baring the predictions out.

Having worked with such feted producers as Frankmusic and particularly Starsmith, her debut album, Lights, went to number one. It's gone gold and is fast approaching platinum status.

"That would be sweet," says the 23-yearold Hereford-born singer.

Meanwhile, her first headlining tour has pretty much sold out and John Mayer has just snapped her up as his support when he comes to the UK in May.

Plus she has a summer of festival appointments that will see her clock up enough helicopter miles to take advantage of whatever loyalty bonuses are available.

"It has been lovely. I enjoy touring more than anything," she says.

She's certainly starting as she means to go on, joining the bill on the Spillar's Wharf stage at the Evolution Weekender 2010, which will attract thousands of music fans to NewcastleGateshead quaysides on the last bank holiday weekend in May.
