Four-year-old Charlie Dunkerley, along with his brother George, nine, and sisters Naomi, 13, and Jessica, 17, declared sales at the Steeplechase development in Redcar up and running.

The development, bordered by West Dyke Road and Greystoke Grove, owes its name to the town's nearby racecourse.

They were also treated to a meal out courtesy of times4 homes, part of Coast & Country Housing, plus champagne for the grown-ups and chocolate for the children.

There are 83 homes for sale, ranging from two, three and four-bedroom houses, to two-bedroom bungalows.
