Dance Girls Bid to Help Sufferers

YOUNG sufferers of the hair loss condition alopecia have danced their way through a film to promote awareness.

Three alopecia sufferers were joined at Northfield School in Billingham by close friends who have provided support and comfort to them.

The 17 youngsters aged six to 18 were put through their paces by a professional team of dancers from the group Dance In Education who were producing the video.

The awareness raising idea was thought up by support group BeBold -which was formed two years ago by Darren and Ann-Marie Payne when they discovered their daughter Katelyn, now six, had alopecia.

The group now has members aged from four to 80 which includes sufferers, family and friends.

BeBold's Darren said: "We are doing the street dance video to build up self esteem and confidence and say although you may have this condition you can continue to lead a normal life."

They decided to film at Northfield because it is the school which one sufferer, 13-year-old Bethany Ptohopoulos, attends. …
