Arrows Shown Up by Nifty Cooloola Heat

HOCKEY: The winless season of the struggling Arrows Athletics continued on Saturday with a towelling at the hands of Cooloola Heat.

It was the fifth straight loss for the coach-less Arrows but long-term player Paul Green believes there is hope for the season ahead.

"There's a lot of work to do but we're heading in the right direction," Green said.

"We showed some improvement on previous weeks but we still need to work on improving the cohesion of the side."

A speedy Heat outfit ran circles around an Arrows team that had fullback Zac Snell in overdrive in an attempt to stem the damage.

The loss of nine of the side's players in the lead-up to the season was highlighted again by the southern powerhouse.

Green said his team, with an average age of 35, struggled to keep up with the younger, faster Cooloola outfit.

"They're a pretty slick side and it highlighted some areas we need to work on," he said.

We worked up the park well, with some strong attacking movements, and the backs put in a big effort dealing with frequent attacks. …
