TOUCH FOOTBALL: Bundaberg touch footballers are earning a reputation as the auntouchablesa after they claimed the State Cup Championship last weekend.

In a blockbuster weekend of action, Bundaberg hosted 35 teams from across regional Queensland for the two-day cup challenge at the touch football grounds on University Drive.

Bundaberg Touch Football president Dave Field aims to ensure the State Cup trophy remains at the association's clubhouse for as long as possible.

"It looks really nice on the bench here," he said. "It has a nice shine to it."

Seven local teams took to the field for the tournament across the men's, women's, mixed and masters categories in fast and furious 15-minute-half football.

Emerging at the top of the heap for Bundaberg were the Men's 40s, Men's 30s and Women's Open sides with players making it into the grand final of their respective tournaments.

While the Men's 30s and Women's Open went down in the final game, the Men's 40s claimed victory securing Bundaberg's place at the top of the table for total points scored. …
