Kings Cut Down to Size by Southport; Tweed Valley Focus on Win over Musgrave

THE Tweed Valley Kings travelled to Southport in their latest outing but again were unable to take the points in a highly-competitive premier league game.

An even contest for the opening 20 minutes, both teams had an equal share of ball possession.

But 35 minutes into the game, Southport's left winger scored after receiving a long cross from his right full back and scooted down the touchline, beating the Kings goalkeeper low and to his left.

Just 10 minutes later, the Kings equalised when Ben Blair directed a corner kick to midfielder Matthew Bruggy.

Bruggy struck the ball well from outside the 18-yard area to score in the top left-hand corner.

The Kings finished the first half on top, going into the break 1-1.

They started the second half well, too, with the majority of ball possession and creating the better chances on goal.

However, on the half hour mark, Southport scored from a counter-attack down the left wing to take a 2-1 lead. …
