A PASSION for their ponies was more than apparent at the recent Wide Bay Shetland Pony Promotion Group show, according to member Maureen Lakeman.

"The first show of the year fielded a good roll-up of Shetland pony owners, breeders and excited youngsters keen to have a go," she said.

"Child numbers are ever increasing due to the enthusiasm and love of their ponies."

The day started with a showing of foals, which Ms Lakeman says is the owners' pride and joy and promise of the future.

Sarah Brunskill showed champion foal Amamoor Stud Cheeky Chops, with Michelle Hewerdine taking out reserve with Kimmell Caramel Cruise.

A highlight of the Gunalda show was the fancy dress section, which saw the juniors dress up in various colourful costumes, including Amber Wessling, who looked spectacular as a Spanish senorita.

The next show will be held at Gunalda on August 21. …
