A BURRUM Heads man says he was fast asleep moments before he was repeatedly stabbed.

Cameron Wood told a court he awoke to find Richard Raymond Boys standing in his annexe at the Hillcrest Caravan Park about 1am on New Year's Eve.

Mr Wood said he thought he was being punched during a struggle with Boys, but when he ran to get help from a neighbour, he realised he was ableeding all overa.

The 36-year-old suffered wounds to his thigh, shoulder, head, chest, knee and shin after allegedly being stabbed.

Boys, 45, will stand trial in the Maryborough Supreme Court charged with attempted murder and enter dwelling with intent.

He has been in custody since December 31.

The Hervey Bay Magistrates court heard that Boys believed Mr Wood owed him money.

"All of a sudden something disturbed me and I woke up," Mr Wood said.

"Richard was half way through my van coming towards me."

Mr Wood told the court he jumped out of bed and ran to push Boys away but the older man started alaying intoa him. …
