Splendour Organisers Committed to Byron; Working on Ways to Make a Triumphant Return

ORGANISERS of Splendour in the Grass have said that they remained committed to returning the festival to the Byron Shire.

This is despite last week's sales blitz on tickets for the 2010 venue in Queensland.

Splendour moved to the site at Woodford this year following protests from Ocean Shores residents and environmentalists at the use of the new Parklands site, north of Byron Bay.

Last Thursday's offering of 30,000 tickets was snapped up in five hours, which had some Northern Rivers music fans wondering if the music extravaganza would ever come 'home'.

However, organiser Jessica Ducrou reassured Splendour's commitment to the region.

"We would like to return to Byron Shire, where the event was established and should be," she said.

While Woodford was 'a fantastic move, allowing the show to develop and move closer to our vision, the Parklands site is a further step again'. …
