MACKAY is growing and so is Magpies Sporting Club. Today the club has over 12,000 members and with Mackay growing, we're expecting that number to rise within 10 years to 17,000.

Like any well managed sporting club, they are planning for this growth. They are focused on upgrading their community sporting facilities and entertainment areas for members.

Magpies Sporting Club is committed to Mackay sport. At Magpies we have earmarked $500,000 each year to support sporting participation, sporting facilities and other community organisations in the Mackay region. It is our goal to be the largest and best equipped sporting venue in Mackay.A After almost 30 years of supporting sport in Mackay, the club is as proud as ever to be an active member of the Mackay community.

Magpies proudly donates to the local community via schools, sporting clubs and non profit organisations. In 2008 Magpies gave back over $480,000 to the local community through donations and sponsorship. Magpies have 10 affiliate clubs with over 1500 members that they nurture and support. They presented an $18,000 cheque to RACQ-CQ Rescue at the end of 2008, and know how important it is for local businesses to support each other and support local non profit organisations, schools and local sporting clubs.

This year Magpies launched a new community program. New members get to choose where $2 of their membership fee is to be donated. Options include CQ Rescue, Clubs Smile for a Child, Surf Life Saving Queensland, Queensland Cancer Council and Royal Flying Doctors.

In addition, with every new membership, an additional $2 is donated to the Mackay District Primary School Sport Initiative. That's $4 of the $5.50 membership fee that is donated directly to local community organisations.

They have recently committed to donate $50,000 over the next five years to the Mackay District Primary School Sport Initiative. …
