WHEN you come face to face with a croc only two feet smaller than your tinny, you know it's time to get motoring.

And, after a quick photo opportunity, that's exactly what Paula Church and John Evans did when they spotted a large crocodile while fishing at Sandy Creek on Saturday morning.

Ms Church, of Dunrock, wants to warn people fishing in the creek, south of Mackay, to be wary of the reptiles.

"I reckon he'd be at least 12 foot long," Ms Church said.

"We'd set the crab pots and we were coming back down the creek to do a little fishing in one of our fishing holes.

"He was sunbaking.

"It (our boat pulling up) didn't worry him (the croc) first up, but by the time I got the camera he was casually sliding into the water.

"It was just so awesome to see a creature like that."

Once the crocodile was in the water, Ms Church said she and her partner Mr Evans decided to move away from the area in case it came closer to their boat. …
