THE Wallabys A-grade team was raring to go before the first home game in the club's 87-year history on Sunday a and it showed when they hit the field.

The home team promptly made a breakaway run a for the first time ever at Albion Parka in the first set of the game to push Seagulls back into their own 20 metres.

Fighting back, Seagulls earned back-to-back sets when Trent Minton was left with unsteady legs after he was lifted in a tackle.

The visitors' Brendan Rea crossed for first points of the game shortly after.

Slightly overzealous, the Wallabys were penalised for another lifted tackle, which put Seagulls in position for their second try to make it 10-0 midway through the half.

Settling down and finding their rhythm, the Wallabys claimed a hat-trick of four-pointers through Luke Blanchard, Sam Herbert and Ashley Dodd.

With the help of two conversions by Blanchard they had a 16-10 lead going in to the break. …
