OWNERS of home insulation businesses crippled by the collapse of the Federal Government's rebate scheme hope today's Federal Budget will offer some hope for the future.

But for many of them, it is already too late.

The government's Greg Combet has indicated the Budget will provide more details of the $2.45 billion rescue package it was forced to introduce after the scheme collapsed in Feb-ruary.

Chris and Rachel Myers of All Seasons Insulation haven't done an installation since December and are pinning their hopes on the government's new insulation inspection program.

"We've put our hand up to be part of that team and are hopeful but it's just a waiting game at the moment," Mrs Myers said.

"About 85% of the dodgy jobs happened in South-East Queensland, so we hope there will be work there to help us start all over again."

But it will be a long time before they can even consider re-hiring the four staff they had to sack. …
