Any Old Thing You Can Spare, We'll Take; $30,000 Raised for Poor Afghan Orphans

WHETHER it's 15 minutes, a couple of hours you can spare or an idle shed you've been meaning to rid the lawn of, long-term volunteer Sue Johnson wants to meet you.

Mrs Johnson's home has been the ferreter's dream for almost a decade as the wearable, quirky and useable was sold and raised about $30,000 for Hope and Peace House, homes for about 400 orphans in Afghanistan.

"We usually have a garage sale a few times a year but now I'm opening up a shop so we can sell once a week," Mrs Johnson said.

"I'm looking for some helpers, anyone can come on down and enjoy a laugh. Even if they come for 15 minutes to help out, once they've been here they'll come back because we make a nice pot of tea and it's a great atmosphere.

"One thing I would love is a shed because people donate all kinds of things and I quickly run out of room. …
